The scenic shoreline of Lakeshore Drive transformed into a bustling highway of community spirit and athletic determination on Saturday, September 19, 2026, as hundreds gathered for the 47th Annual Grosse Pointe Run. Organized by the Grosse Pointe Sunrise Rotary Club and its Foundation, the historic event drew participants of all ages to Pier Park, generating crucial funding for local causes under the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self".
The event lineup offered something for everyone, kicking off with the 1-Mile Fun Run and Walk, followed by the Middle School Invitational 2-Mile Run, and concluding with the highly competitive 5K and 10K races. Daily joggers who frequent the scenic Lakeshore Drive route found themselves sharing the pavement with seasoned regional racers and local youth groups.
True to that mission, all proceeds raised from registration and local sponsorships are directly returned to the community. This year's funds are earmarked for vital initiatives, including college and trade school scholarships for local students, global polio eradication efforts through "End Polio Now," local addiction prevention, and community health initiatives.
The success of the 47th annual event was bolstered by a strong network of community sponsors, including Henrt Ford Health, DTE Energy, Golling Auto Group, The War Memorial, and Northern Industrial Manufacturing.
